David "Tank" Abbott
Tank was the original "Huntington Beach Bad Boy" as far as I'm concerned, but that nicknamed ended up with Tito Ortiz, so oh well... Tank is still the man though. Maybe not as much an athlete as some fighters these days, Tank just likes to brawl. The reason Tank is a legend of MMA is because of his early fights in the UFC where he was damn near knocking peoples heads off with the legendary Tank Abbott knockouts which earned him his reputation as a headhunter.
Tank's first fight in the UFC was against a big 6'2" 400lb dude named John Matua, who he knocked out cold in like 18 seconds and sent him into a convulsing like state with his hands and feet sticking in the air. Tank made fun of him. Tank Abbott went on to lose later that night to Oleg Taktarov by Rear Naked Choke after 17 minutes of fighting.
Tank Abbott has been videotaped bench pressing 600lbs, although some people critcize the video saying he didn't use proper technique because the bar "bounced" off of his chest. Tank later laughed at the ridiculous idea of "bouncing" 600 pounds off of someones chest.
When he first started fighting in the UFC, he called his fighting style "pit fighting" but it was really just some street fighting. Despite never achieving a substantial win record in the UFC, Tank has remained a fan favorite because of his hard hitting, brawling style along with his power and strength. His personality is hilarious also. Plus, he's even tried to throw opponents out of the octagon. Awesome.
Tank also did some professional wrestling for the WCW from 1999-2001.
